Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology (Commonly referred to as Sir MVIT) is an Institute of repute in the state of Karnataka. The Institute is named after Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, a well known Engineer, Statesman and a former Diwan of Mysore. The institute was founded and established in 1986 by the Sri Krishnadevaraya Educational Trust and offers programs in the field of Technical Education. The Institute is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University and approved by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi. Sir MVIT is an ISO 9001:2008 Certified Institution. The institute has 3300 students and over 260 faculty members. The institute has been Ranked No. 1 among the Engineering Colleges in the Karnataka State by the reputed magazine ‘Dataquest’. It is also ranked under top 25 engineering colleges of India and rated AAA amongst India’s Best Engineering Colleges.

Campus

Sir M. Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology has on its Campus, Men’s & Women’s Hostels, 100 bed General Hospital, Ladies Amenities Center, Staff Quarters, Guest House, Cafeteria, Outdoor Sports Facility spread over 12.1 Hectares and an Indoor Games Complex. Apart from the Engineering College, there’s a M.B.A department, Sir M V School of Architecture (B.E) and a Dental College ( Krishnadevaraya College of Dental Sciences and Hospital) as well, where all Students and Working Staff can get the treatment done with concessions of 50%. The institute is connected to all the parts of the city by its own fleet of Buses. All the students admitted to the institute are covered by insurance for life and medical care.

Candidate should have Pass in 2nd PUC/12th Std/equivalent examination with Physics & Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Obtained 45% of marks in aggregate in Physics, Mathematics and any one of the following subjects:
Chemistry/Biology/ Biotechnology/Computer Science/Electronics.

In case of candidates belonging to SC/ST and other backward classes( Category 1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B), the
minimum marks for eligibility will be 40% in aggregate in optional subjects in qualifying examination.

The candidate seeking for admission under management quota, Eligibility criteria depends upon the
college / university norms.
The percentage require for admission varies from colleges to colleges strictly under management quota.

FEES STRUCTURE 2018

There are different types of Fees structure depending upon allocation of seats under respective quota. In Karnataka there are three types of fees structure, defined below.

CET – rs. 48000/- per year

COMEDK – rs. 1,86,000/- per year

Management Quota – rs. 1,98,000/- per year

Admissions in the Engineering courses is done through entrance examination. The admission to undergraduate programs is done through Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main).

List of other entrance exam for admission in above colleges- COMEDK conducted by Karnataka State & CET conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority.

Admissions through management / NRI quota.

All private colleges in India have some reserved seats allocated to them by the government defined as Management/ NRI quota.

These seats are given by the college on their own norms and eligibility. The colleges may charge capitation amount / development charges/ or increase in fees structure to give seats to deserving candidates. All colleges do have their own eligibility criteria, terms and conditions to give seats to respective students. The criteria and procedure varies from colleges to colleges.

** note-
Management/NRI quota is STRICTLY available only in private colleges. No government colleges is having Management/ NRI quota. Admission to the govt. colleges can done only through by clearing the entrance exams.
